Phillip Day’s Australian Tour 2011

Phillip Day of Credence Publications is kicking off his Australian speaking tour in Brisbane on 21st February 2011. The Victory Tour covers a range of subjects related to health and avoiding and overcoming disease. This information is not publicised by the mainstream health industry and is sometimes shocking but always interesting.

As Phillip says “The official view is that medicine does not know what causes disease, which is complete nonsense. The answers to mankind’s biggest scourges lie in diet and lifestyle changes which, unfortunately, our drug-obsessed medical orthodoxy is unwilling to countenance.”

The Victory Tour, an examination of what causes disease, covers the simple measures each of us can take to avoid getting sick, and what to do if we fall ill.

Review of Changing Habits, Changing Lives by Cyndi O’Meara

Changing Habits, Changing LivesOk so you are thinking about changing your eating habits but you just don’t know where to start, or where to find the right information. Well, look no further because I have the best book for you.

I came across the book Changing Habits, Changing Lives over a year ago and it is fantastic, but first I want to tell you a bit about the author. Cyndi O’Meara is not your typical nutritionist: she disagrees with low-fat and low-calorie diets, believes chocolate can be good for you, and thinks cheating and eating yummy food are important parts of a well-balanced diet!

I thought ‘this is the book for me’ and it has been life changing for me and my family. The book teaches you about healthy lifestyle and dietary choices and the changes that have happened in the last thirty years to the ingredients of what we eat.

This book is about changing your habits one step at a time and keeping those good habits for life. If you change your diet you can gain health, energy and vitality, if you lose weight, then that’s an added bonus on top of being healthy.

What I love about the book is that it contains simple easy steps. You work your way through each chapter (habit) and then move onto the next habit. There are action steps at the end of each chapter which help you stay on track.

Some of the content covered in the book includes: breakfast (with some great breakfast recipes), the importance of water and quality versus quantity. There is also a meal planner in the back.

Newfound dangers in Rota Virus Vaccine

This is just typical of big Pharma putting profit before peoples lives.  It’s quite shocking that these vaccines are not guaranteed to be free from contamination with DNA from animal viruses or any other kind of virus, especially when you consider that the technology currently available could have been used to screen for this pig viral DNA.

Water or Cola?

Someone sent me this comparison and while I’m not sure of the source of the information I am sure that water is the best thing you can drink to improve your overall well-being.

WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term Memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on

The computer screen or on a ! Printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of Colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop Bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?

Cola

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Cola in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Cola and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Cola into the Toilet bowl and let the ‘real thing’ sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Cola removes stains from vitreous China .

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Cola To the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7… To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Cola Into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
through a regular cycle. The Cola will help loosen Grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1. The active ingredient in Cola is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric
Acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use hazardous material place
cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Cola have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

Or Cola?

Don’t rush for the swine flu vaccine.

The Times of India reports “a group of homeopathy doctors are drafting a proposal to the government to offer their services to help in dealing with swine flu cases”. The article quotes a Delhi-based homeopath, Mukesh Batra, who cites the instance of the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918 in which more than 50 million people were killed worldwide. He says the mortality rate of people given allopathic treatment was 28.2 percent, while those given homeopathic treatment was 1.05 percent at that time.

Read the full article at the Times of India website, we’d like to hear if you have used homeopathic treatment as an alternative to vaccination.

I Love Some Crumpet in the Morning

Crumpets & Jam

I have decided to do more cooking from scratch, with all organic ingredients. Today I tried out a new recipe for crumpets from Cyndi O’Meara’s book “Changing Habits, Changing Lives cook book”. It looked very straight forward, except for one thing: the recipe called for 10g of compressed yeast and I only had dried yeast.

After some interesting discussions with my mathematical husband about grams and millilitres, we eventually worked out the conversion. All the while my 3 year old daughter is trying very hard to be patient and wants to put everything in the mixing bowl and just get on with it. Imagine her frustration when she learned we then had to let it sit for 30 minutes before cooking.

So now I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old up at the stove ready for some cooking action. I need 3 egg rings and I remember they are in the shed in our camping box. I head off to the shed to get the rings and I know the kids are thinking “What is the point of all this and why don’t we just buy them ready made at the shop!”

Anyway, I put the first 3 in the pan and of course end up burning the bottom (curse that electric stove) and get out our trusty gas camping stove and cook away. Now, as everyone knows crumpets are cooked on the bottom and have lots of little holes in the top and this takes time, so the girls decide they would rather just put blobs of batter in the pan and flip them, pancake style, and eat them.

The end result? Three properly made crumpets, which were very delicious, and lots of little crumpets cooked on both sides. The girls ate them with Organic honey and Jam, mmmmm delicious! The great thing about this recipe is the ingredients. All you need is organic flour, baking powder, sea salt, organic raw sugar, filtered water and compressed yeast (or dried works perfectly, if you don’t have compressed!)

How Much is too Much? The Cumulative Effects of Common Additives

My husband admits he is addicted to caffeine and can’t function until he has had his first cup of coffee in the morning.

After a couple of hits he is fired up and ready to face the day, but, if he overdoes it and has another cup (or two) mid morning, he gets jittery, can’t concentrate and tends to bounce from one project to the next without making any progress.

Caffeine is a recognised stimulant with well-known effects on the central nervous system, but what of the many other substances we consume on a daily basis?  What effects are they having on us?

One hotly debated topic nowadays is the number of additives in food and the adverse effects they have on our health. Food additives are not new; salt, vinegar and alcohol have been used for centuries.

However, with the growing popularity of processed foods over the past 30 years, the number and concentration of additives in food has grown markedly and with this growth more and more of us are suffering from food intolerances.

Calcium Propionate – Preservative 282

The next time you’re at the supermarket read the ingredients of a popular bakery item, such as bread or crumpets, and you will most likely find preservative 282 on the list.

Calcium propionate, along with the other propionates numbered 280 – 283, is described as a preservative but is more accurately called a mould inhibitor.

This substance, which occurs naturally in some dairy products, is widely used in Australia, the USA and the UK but is rarely used in Europe or New Zealand. It’s primary use is in bread and is commonly referred to as the ‘bread preservative’.

What are the effects of eating too much calcium propionate?

Calcium propionate, though harmless in small doses, has been shown to have a cumulative effect. A 2002 study carried out in Darwin and published in the Journal of Paediatric Child Health found “irritability, restlessness, inattention and sleep
disturbance in some children may be caused by a preservative in healthy foods consumed daily”.

To add to the cumulative effects, calcium propionate is now being added to other foods such as dried fruit, dairy products and fruit juice.

So, a seemingly healthy diet can lead to a concentration of this harmful substance.

What can you do to avoid calcium propionate?

The introduction of a mould inhibitor to our breads was aimed at reducing production time and costs, rather than increasing the quality of the finished product.

Most traditional bakers, who wash equipment and utensils with vinegar and allow bread to cool completely before being put in a plastic bag, will not need to add a mould inhibitor to their products.

So, if you want to reduce the amount of propionates in your system, the easiest way to do this is to find a local baker who doesn’t use preservatives and keep your bread in the freezer or read the ingredients list of your baked and dairy products and avoid any with 282 added.
