The truth about swine flu.

I’ve been hearing a lot about swine flu recently, and unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve been hearing a lot too.

But is swine flu as great a threat as the media would have you believe? Or is this another scare story that will lead nowhere?

So far in Australia, we have had 16 reported swine flu ‘related’ deaths. I can’t remember when swine flu first hit the news over here, but I would guess that is about one death per week. I’m sorry for the families who have lost loved ones, but according to the World Health Organisation an average 10,000 people worldwide die every week from the existing strains of influenza.

I think the media has built this up to something more than it is.

Are they doing this to sell vaccination for their advertisers, the big drug companies? Is it simple fearmongering to keep the masses in check? Or is it just laziness, because they can’t be bothered to do some research on the real dangers.
